Our 2 Year Anniversary!

We are TWO!

Last Thursday saw the 2nd anniversary celebration of the Travel Massive here in Toronto. To celebrate, we were hosted by Betty’s on King Street East, and sponsored by both Intrepid Travel and Urban Adventures.

In the build up to the event, some of our esteemed travelers who were unable to attend passed on their best wishes via video:

While celebrating the occasion with friends and colleagues within our travel community, there was as usual, prizes to be given away, as well as a beautiful cake made by Katy Rockett from Intrepid Travel:

Toronto Travel Massive co-founders Alicia and Mariellen celebrated two wonderful years (and did their absolute best to hold back tears) cutting the cake on this momentous occasion.

To celebrate our anniversary, the grand prize giveaway was also a bit special. To win, participants had to tweet their answers to 10 skill-testing travel related questions such as:

‘Name four of the six hiking trails you can take at Mount Kilimanjaro?’

Two attendees, Tammy Burns and Meredith Howard, tied with nine correct answers and so were put forward for the tie-breaker, where they were shown a picture and had to guess the city demonstrated in the picture.

Eventually, Meredith prevailed by guessing Sydney, Australia and so won the grand prize… a trip to Vietnam with Intrepid Travel!!

But there was a final twist to this tale. Meredith GAVE her prize to Tammy, reasoning that she would never have guessed Sydney had Tammy not said ‘Australia’.  The best part about it….Vietnam is Tammy’s dream trip! Be sure to read her blog all about it!

And with this incredible and emotional gesture, the 2 year anniversary for Toronto Travel Massive was brought to a close. A big thank you to Intrepid Travel, Urban Adventures, and the wonderful community who make the Toronto Travel Massive what it is today. These past two years could not have been possible without you, and we look forward to many more years ahead!
