The Travel Blogger Exchange [TBEX]
🇨🇦 This article was originally published on the Toronto Travel Massive blog
TBEX is the world’s largest gathering of travel bloggers, writers, new media content creators, and social media savvy travel industry professionals. In June 2013, TBEX chose Toronto to host their annual North America conference, which later proved to be their largest conference yet. More than 1300 travel bloggers, PR professionals, and industry reps converged in the city for networking, insightful learning sessions, and intense workshops.
TBEX and Toronto Travel Massive partnered to organize the official global Travel Massive kick-off party. The aim of the event was to bring together travel professionals from around the world. The night offered a chance for the online industry to meet one another in-person to network, talk travel, and build personal connections. The event saw over 200 influential travellers and online media all in one room.
The event was Toronto Travel Massive’s largest meet-up – and most in-demand. Tickets for the event sold out in less than one hour of announcement and line-ups at opening night were extensive.
Because of the nature of this global event, Toronto Travel Massive’s mission was to create an event that well-represented our city as well as unique Canadian traditions. Beginning with the venue, the Irish Embassy Pub was the perfect location to host a world meet-up. Located in Toronto’s Financial District, the building is a Canadian architectural and historical heritage site, and was once home to one of Toronto’s oldest banks.
The team at the Irish Embassy Pub also offered attendees a chance to experience Canadian culinary dishes including delicious Oysters from Prince Edward Island, Quebec cheese, Canadian peameal bacon, and Mott’s Clamato Caesar.
Toronto Travel Massive also partnered with global travel brands to offer great giveaways throughout the evening. Among them were a 18-270mm lens for Canon, Nikon, & Sony from Tamron and AFAR Magazine (valued at $449) and $250 in travel vouchers care of Expedia Canada. The event generated over 200,000+ impressions in only a couple of hours.
