June Meet-Up: Travelocity

This past June, Toronto Travel Massive was proud to partner with Canada’s very FIRST travel booking website, Travelocity! We chatted travel trends in Canada and had a chance to catch up with old and new globetrotters since our big TBEX bash.

Travelocity’s Brian Simpson and Alicia Taggio from Toronto Travel Massive get the crowd warmed up just before a short presentation from our sponsor on the trends of Canadian travel. When it comes to travel, Travelocity understands the importance of bloggers in influencing consumer decisions. Brian tells us at least 35% of Canadians use travel reviews & blogs to make their travel decisions. In fact, Canadians are one of the fastest growing demographics who are making the shift to the digital world to book their future travels. At least 84% of Canadians use the net to book and search for their next trip!

It’s no surprise, blogs ARE powerful and we love brands who think so too!

People were hard at work in the tweet-to-win contest. Travelocity gave away fun travel t-shirts, travel discounts exclusive for Toronto Travel Massive members, and free travel money to anywhere in the world!

Jane, from Grey Routes and Tips and one of TTM’s newest members, walked away with her very own Roaming Gnome.  Cristina won the grand prize of a $500 in travel vouchers to spend on hotel or flight packages. Thank you Travelocity for providing us with fantastic giveaways! We promise to put them to good use!

TTM also welcomed back WanderingTrader. Marcello was part of our inaugural meet-up almost 3 years ago which only saw a handful of attendees back then, and boy was he impressed at how much the Toronto network has really grown since our very first event! Marcello is constantly wandering the globe to faraway places or working long hours as a Day Trader, so we were thrilled he could drop by to say hello!

But the real guest of honour might have been a guy with a long white beard, who wears a sexy wool coat all year round, and travels around the world and back. TTM was excited to meet the one and only Roaming Gnome.

In fact, he almost went missing and we had to save him from gnome-nappers.

We really tried to get more photos with Roaming Gnome, but we couldn’t figure out how to use the picture-taking thingy.
