The Most Unusual Venues from Travel Massive Meetups Around the World

Travel Massive was born on the rooftop patio of YHA in Sydney, Australia. That was back in 2010. Since then, Travel Massive has made it’s way to more than 100+ cities globally, usually in pubs, restaurants, hotels and other fun, casual atmospheres. But sometimes events take place at the most unordinary places. Here are some of the most unique venues where Travel Massive events took place around the world.

In a Ruin Pub

Only in Budapest could Travel Massive happen in a ruin pub. The city is known for it’s old abandoned buildings-turned-hangouts. It’s not luxury by any means and you may find you’re stepping over rubble ground but it certainly is very local and cultural.

In a Boat

The Vltava River is a common meeting place in Prague for locals and travellers alike. Hop into a boat with a big pint of Pilsner and you never know who you’ll rub elbows with!

On a Cruise Ship

Stockholm Travel Massive recently boarded the MSC Cruises for morning cappuccinos, afternoon cocktails and a lunch buffet. Networking on a luxury cruise ship? Yes please!

In a 125-year Old Victorian Home

It was so great for a local & unique bed & breakfast to open their doors to our community event. The B&B is owed by Sheila Ash who still captures the funky essence of San Francisco both in her personality and in the thought she’s put into decorating each room with it’s own unique style. Talk about traveling back in time!

In an Ice House

An event in an ice house was a ‘cool’ way to celebrate Toronto for their 5th anniversary event. The Chill Ice House is run by the Bayley family who have traveled the world creating permanent ice sculptures and lounges in Dubai, Greece, India and all over the US.

By the Ocean

From cool to warm and an event with a view. How could we say no to a meetup on an oceanfront terrace along a coast like California?

On an Island

Travel Massive got its own island this summer (even after founder Ian Cumming fooled the community back in April).  In between sun, sand, and a few tsipouros, about 20 travel insiders gathered on the Greek island of Ios this July to meet, share and collaborate on sustainable initiatives and the future of tourism for Ios.

In a Cooking Studio

If there is one thing that travellers can never pass up, it’s food. Culinary culture gives travellers a deeper connection to a destination and the people or company you’re enjoying it with. This Toronto event had the travel industry salivating for Philadelphia and their delicious Philly cheesesteaks.

In a Museum

A place to learn a little and have some fun. How about hosting your next event in a museum? Berlin Travel Massive hosted one of their meet-ups at the Spy Museum Berlin for a little something special including a personalized tour and a huge chat about big data.
