How to Create Lasting Connections at Travel Massive Meet Ups

Travel Massive now has 113 chapters in over 52 countries across the globe, that makes for a lot of opportunity to meet all the right people at your next chapter meet up. With only a few hours of fun and interaction, it’s important that you come prepared to meet fantastic people and have a great time! But how do you create those long lasting connections?

Complete Your Travel Massive Profile

Sounds easy, right? It is. Take the extra couple minutes to completely fill out your profile on Travel Massive. It is a simple switch to adding a profile picture and a good description so that others can connect with you before an event and follow your after the event while sending direct messages through the platform.

If you are a brand, create a brand profile. This can be done so after creating a personal profile. This is a great way to feature your business and allows you to create special promotions for Travel Massive travel insiders who follow you. Some great examples are KnowRoaming and Reality Tours and Travel Ltd.

Do Your Research

Head on over to our Travel Massive Events page to find an event in a city near you. Once you’ve selected an event to attend, do you research. Read all the basic information on the event so that you are well prepared to discuss this month’s theme or focus and then explore who’s going. You have the opportunity to match the name to the face for both chapter leaders and event attendees. This is a great way to check out peoples profiles and see who may be the most interesting to connect with while you’re there.

Bring your Business Cards

This is an absolute must. You will always be meeting tons of people while attending travel massive meet ups, what a better way to keep someone in mind than receiving their business card? Make sure you come well stacked up with business cards. Tip: if you happen to forget yours at home, always be sure to carry a pen and paper (or your smart phones) to jot down contacts on-the-go.

Remember the Face

Having your portrait right on the backside of your business card is certainly the easiest way to remember the face. However, start thinking about what makes you unique and what may set you apart from others. If you’ve got a compelling story, chances are the face will be easier to remember.

Connect on the Fly

We’ve all got smartphones, now is the time to connect to that 3G or wifi and start immediately linking up with contacts. Quite often during our meetups we will be holding tweet contests and other social media games, make some time so add contacts on Twitter, Facebook, Google Contacts, etc. while you’re still at the event.

“Hey! I know that person!”

You cannot beat the serendipity that the internet can bring. By sharing your attendance online you can create a much bigger reach. Take a great photo of yourself and tag it with #travelmassive and the event sponsors links to get attention on Instagram and Twitter. We retweet pictures from events around the world.

Send Out E-mails After the Event

There’s nothing like sending out a ‘nice to meet you’ email after the event has come to a close. If you met some awesome people at the event, why not stay in touch? Send out a thanks and give them any other information they might need in order to connect with you further.
