Connect With Other Entrepreneurs On Startuptravels

In today’s The Travel Scene Start Up series we feature Rasmus, co-founder of Startuptravels. This start up is helping travellers get connected, and helping the traveling entrepreneur in finding a place to stay and work from. Rasmus is a part of our Copenhagen Travel Massive chapter and it is our pleasure to feature all of his hard work in today’s featured post.

Tell us about your start up.

My startup is for every entrepreneur – created with the aim of connecting the entrepreneurial world more. It should not be difficult to travel to a new location and get introduced/settled into a new place. That is what we strive for,

You should never be a stranger!

What inspired you to create this startup?

I have been traveling a lot and found it very difficult to get to know the local startup scene. That is why I created Startuptravels with my cofounder, Anders, in order to connect entrepreneurs all around the world.

Startuptravels is a social platform where you can find people to meet at 160 countries around the world, find an entrepreneur to stay with through our Airbnb integration and lastly find a place to work from with our newly launched coworking pass, giving users access to coworking spaces all around the world for 3 days for free.

How did you build your startup?

Well we started with testing the market and whether we were the only ones with this issue. So we made a video, in order to see the reaction:

The reaction was great, and we managed to sign-up more than 10,000 people within the first 2 months, giving us the idea that others were interested in the product as well.

How is your startup helping to make travel better?

We are helping make it easier and more fun traveling, by meeting with, working with, and living with other entrepreneurs from all around the world. Also, we partnered with several companies in order to help entrepreneurs when traveling, including Sixt, Moo and Flystein.

Do you have any tips for new entrepreneurs who want to create a successful startup?

Well get connected! Connections today are so key – so get out there, talk to people, discuss ideas and business cases. You never know when you meet the right partner, investor, cofounder or new friend. Don’t be afraid of discussing ideas or business cases, entrepreneurs are helpful and friendly, and you will not get far on your own anyway.

What is the most important thing to do during your travels?

The most important thing is definitely to get the local startup feeling. That is why I try to get connected and talk to locals, to get a sense on how they are working and doing business. I learn so much from this, and this leads me to have friends all over the world.

Don’t being afraid of stopping and talking to people, or setting up meetings.

Why do you travel?

Wow, really? There are so many things. Said easily, I would not have the same outlook on things, friends, business, ideas, way of living and so many other things without my travel experiences. Traveling can really shape you as a better, and for my part it is definitely for the better!
