Spacebase Helps You Find Your Meeting Space

Julian Jost, CEO at Spacebase helps travellers find inspirational meeting rooms on their trips. Julian is part of our Berlin Travel Massive chapter and was happy to share with us a little inspriation about running a start up. 

Who is your startup for?

Spacebase.com is a booking platform for unique meeting- and workshop-rooms. We are operating in big cities in Europe and want to help locals and business travelers to find the ideal meeting-room. We would like to provide the perfect alternative to the standard congress hotels everyone knows. 

What inspired you to create this startup?

During my time as a consultant, I was required to organize several meetings and workshops. Throughout this time I was constantly finding that the meeting rooms I quite often booked into were plain and empty. To find an alternative to this problem, we formed Spacebase. 

What makes your startup different from other similar startups out there?

Our website allows you to book unique rooms in the most important cities for business travel in Europe. You are not required to do any research to find a room in a foreign city, and our team helps you to find the ideal room for your meeting or workshop.

What was your first travel job?

My first job was in the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and events) industry. Throughout my time as a business consultant, travelling was a big part of my job. I gained a lot of experience as a customer in the travel industry.

Finally, why do you travel?

I love to see new places, experience new cultures and in general meet new exciting people on my journeys. Before you start your journey, you never know what you’ll experience, whom you’ll meet and what you’ll learn. I think that is my biggest motivation in traveling.

As a startup, what benefits have you seen from being a part of Travel Massive meet-ups?

I have already been to several Travel Massive events held in Berlin and Cape Town. It is always well organized and quite interesting. During every meet-up I have had the chance to get in touch with really interesting people who shared their experiences with me. In terms of business partnerships, I have also met a lot of people who were interested in our product and booked rooms via Spacebase after our first introduction. It is always worth it to go to a Travel Massive meet-up.
