Travel Massive Crete Launched With a Buzz!

On the first weekend of December, Travel Massive Crete was launched with ..a buzz! There were three events in three cities that made headlines on the 9 o’clock news.

Our first events were more of a “get to know us ” and a think tank for our future ones as we focused on building and growing our chapter and emphasising on Travel Massive’s community values. This time we launched large and hosted a three day workshop to bring in the crowds.

Our first event kicked off in Chania, the “cultural “ capital of Crete. Our venue was in one of the most historical buildings at CoME cafe-bar. It is housed in a building called Megalo Neorio, alias Arsenali, which was constructed in 1585 by the Venetians.

The second event took place in the Livingroom Lounge Cafe in Rethymno old town which  has been declared a protected historical monument and a traditional settlement.

Our final event in Crete’s capital was hosted in Marina Cafe in Heraklion.  The location (next to the port) was selected on purpose to emphasize on our historical roots and our Minoan civilization. The Minoans owed their prosperity and sophistication to their success as a great maritime civilization, dependent on the sea for trade and food.

Our 2016 theme is #Crete4Seasons, we are creating a think tank to accelerate tourism all year round in Crete. Our speakers and participants were movers and shakers of the tourism industry on the island and have already helped us immensely toward working together to help boost tourism in the area.

We were honoured to have Simon Lewis with us as a guest speaker. I would also like to thank Travel Massive chapter leader Ioannis Bras and the rest of the team (Alexandra Lavidas Katerina Litou, Giorgos Marinakis, Giorgos Platokoukis, Christos Manousakis , John Malandrakis, Markos Malandrakis, Thanos Korompylias, and Bachoudaki Valanti for their hard work!
