People, Places and Initiatives to Follow in Berlin

For our first Travel Massive Berlin event of the year we wanted to kick off by presenting some of the interesting companies, projects and start-ups located in Berlin.During a cozy meet-up at the office of Spacebase, our speakers shared their work and talked about trends to watch out for this year. Please meet the brains behind those inspiring talks:

Spacebase – Jan Hoffmann-Keining (Marketing &PR)

Spacebase wants to bring more creativity and efficiency into meetings. Jan discussed the sharing economy and its connection to B2B businesses. By offering uncommon meeting venues, Spacebase is digging into a promising market as companies look for more inspirational ways to meet.

GetYourGuide – Tao Tao (COO & Co-Founder)

GetYourGuide is a website for booking tours and activities for your holiday destination. Through their connection with local guides and partners GetYourGuide you plan and book your activities before the actual trip.

Tao mentioned three important trends during our discussion.

  1. Mobile: This concerns apps and mobile web browsers. In 2017 there won’t be any EU roaming fees anymore, which will change the mobile market too.
  2. The Chinese Market: This market includes more than 100 million Chinese outbound tourists. Chinese travelers are actively mobile, and companies are expanding to the international travel market by claiming stakes in large tourism businesses.
  3. Change of Content: Content is becoming more emotional and approaching the audience on a more personal level. Customers are getting more engaged in promotional activities and by reviewing experiences and products.

Route360° is a motion intelligence program running a large geographic network analysis and route planning. This can be a really interesting and helpful tool for tourism businesses. Route360° focuses not on a search from A to B, but on the means of transportation, activities and interests which are presented on the map.

Beach-Inspector – Anton Werner (Founder & Managing Director)

Travelling to beaches around the world to inspect their characteristics and attractiveness to tourists is exactly what the Beach-Inspector promotes. The idea behind the start-up is to help find the perfect beach destinations for different target groups. Two main trends mentioned by Anton included alternative marketing including specific types of content and image campaigns as well as finding a niche and delivering more specific information to customers.

Facebooking – Filip Błoch (CEO)

Facebooking is providing hotel bookings which are tailor made and individualized. The idea is that the guest receives a unique and highly individualized offer for his/her stay at their desired accommodation. Their unique selling point is the personal experience and the ease of receiving one invoice. The trend here mentioned by Filip is the personal and highly individual approach to create the perfect product/ stay for the business traveler nowadays.
