Atlanta Members Discuss The Women in Travel Summit

On January 12, members of Travel Massive’s Atlanta chapter joined together for a special event called “On the Road to WITS” to promote the upcoming Women in Travel Summit in Irvine, California.

The event was focused on women who travel and how they can make a difference around the world.

The appropriately named Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall was our host for the evening, a summer camp-inspired bar and restaurant on Atlanta’s BeltLine path. Attendees were greeted with snacks, including seasoned popcorn and trail mix. Chapter leader Caroline Eubanks introduced herself to the group and went over a few housekeeping topics including volunteers, upcoming events and new features of www.travelmassive.com. Attendees were allowed to go around and introduce themselves as well, as we had a number of first timers.

Then our special guest, Karen Davis Young, CFO at the Midtown Alliance and volunteer CFO for Project House of Hope in Haiti, spoke about the path that led her from her high-powered and jet-setting lifestyle to giving back through nonprofit work. Afterwards, chapter member and Wanderful sales lead Jeannine Henderson spoke about the WITS event and even signed someone up!

It was a great opportunity to meet new attendees and talk about women in the travel industry. Many attendees were bloggers and writers with a few coming from the tourism marketing and non-profit backgrounds. We used the #wits16 hashtag to build momentum on the event and help attendees meet one another before then.

Thanks so much to Joy Hmielewski of Joyelan.com for taking photos of our event and to Ladybird for hosting us! You can check out the full album of photos here.
