10 Great Questions to Ask When Networking at Travel Massive Events

So you know what Travel Massive is and we’ve given you some simple tips to attending Travel Massive meet-ups, how about providing you with some awesome questions to ask when networking at these events?

For some it comes naturally with a beer in hand as they discuss a mix between business and pleasure. For others, it takes time and preparation to get to that point. It’s also one of the more difficult parts of being a new addition to the community.

Travel Massive is a community, it is about coming together and forming new connections you would have never expected. It is about making friends who share common interests and then getting together again and again.

Here’s a few questions to start you off for your next upcoming event:

“Why do you attend these Travel Massive networking events?”

We all have different reasons for attending Travel Massive events. Some come to network, some come to make friends, some hoping for immediate partnerships and others hope for an opportunity to become inspired. There’s so many interested stories within every Travel Massive meet-up. Go ahead, ask them!

“Where else do you meet clients and consumers to network with?”

There’s plenty of resources online, including our online marketplace, community boards, co-working spaces, you name it! Perhaps you’ll become inspired to reach out beyond face-to-face interaction.

“What is it that you do within [the company name]?”

Get to know a little bit about who you’re chatting with. They could be the CEO of a big time tourism operator. You’ll never know until you ask.

“How did you get involved in…”

A lot of inspirational answers come from asking someone how they first got involved in the industries or businesses they’re working for. This is a great way to gain some tips and tricks to getting your foot in the right door.

“Are there any other competitors in the industry that you are differentiating yourself from?”

Why not? This may be a sensitive subject for some, but for others it allows them the opportunity to explain to you what makes them different from the rest.

“What kinds of trends do you see evolving in travel and tourism?”

This is a conversation you can have with just about every single person in the room. We all work in different fields and plenty of us have a different idea of how we wish to see the tourism industry evolve.

“Are there any big plans in the future for [the company name]?”

Use this as your key to finding out if there’s opportunity for you to partner or work together in some way, shape or form. This is an excellent question to allow tourism professionals to share prominent information about what’s to come.

“What do you think about…”

If you’re interested in the field of tourism they work in, it’s worth it to have a few questions in mind that you’d like to ask. Getting advice from someone who is knowledgable in an area you may not understand perfectly, is a great way to do some in-field research.

“Can I help you meet your goals?”

That is the biggest question you can ask! Of course we’d suggest waiting to ask this one until your conversation has gone somewhere, but what harm is it in simply asking “how can I help?”

“What is your social media handle?!”

It is so important to keep in touch with the contacts that you make at Travel Massive events. Without contact details you’re not getting very far. Don’t forget to exchange business cards and try and offer them a nice Like on Facebook or follow on Instagram and Twitter.
