Travel Massive Cape Town Celebrates 2 Year Anniversary

Not only did Travel Massive Africa celebrate the official Pre WTM Africa event in April, but it was also Travel Massive Cape Town’s 2-year anniversary.

The who’s who in South Africa’s travel industry descended on the 2 Oceans Aquarium for a truly unforgettable evening.

Considered one of Cape Town’s best event venues, the Aquarium was left open to explore. In between all the networking, delicious canapés and wine generously sponsored by Groot Constantia, guests were invited to discover the diverse marine life found off the southern African coast.

From the fantastical Knysna seahorses to giant deep-sea crabs and the massive Predator’s tank exhibition – there was something to Instagram around every corner. And with fantastic prizes up for grabs like a R3000 voucher from Lekkeslaap and 4x 1-year memberships to the aquarium, the tweeting competition was fierce.

The event kicked off inside the Predator’s exhibition with a surprise branded Dive-By and more amazing prizes! First up was Jan Harmsgat Country House who held a lucky draw for two bottles of their finest wines. And not to be out done, Dyer Island Cruises gave away two tickets to their Whale Watching Marine Safari and a visit to the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary!

Amid all the celebrations, it was also a bittersweet evening for the Cape Town chapter as we bid adieu to Chapter Leader Simon Lewis. Simon started the Cape Town chapter alongside Dawn Jorgensen two years ago. Thanks for all your hard work Simon and we are looking forward to watching your upcoming projects grow in the same way.

The evening was summed up by an inspiring presentation from The City Hero for the night, Penguin Promises. Renee told the crowd all about the threats facing our African penguins and how their campaign aims to address the problem by asking everyone to make one small change that will positively impact the survival of this endangered animal.

The event was a success on all fronts. From start to fish the sponsors and hosts indulged the crowd and the ambience was rich in appreciation and the networking palpable.

Thank you to everyone who attended and showed the world, yet again, that the Cape Town chapter hosts some of the coolest events. Here’s to another epic Travel Massive year and many more to come!
