How did you first get involved with Travel Massive?

I was invited by a good friend that happens to be the Travel Massive Sydney chapter leader, Bryon Merzeo, to an event in Sydney. That was it, I got hooked, and the only events that I haven’t participated in are the ones held when I am out of the country.

What motivates you to be part of Travel Massive?

The free drinks! Well and the free drinks! Travel Massive gives us all the opportunity to have fun and create connections with other travel insiders.

What makes your city a great place for Travel Massive meet-ups?

My chapter isn’t a city but a whole island! We organize events in all the major big cities which have many similarities, but are also very unique. What makes it great? I strongly believe it’s the locals.

What kinds of current or emerging startups, travel companies, and tourism initiatives exist?

Crete is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands, and one of the most popular destinations in Greece. All kinds of travel companies exist.

Do you do anything unique at your meet-ups?

We try to ensure that all our events to have a unique focus. From the venues that host us, to our guest speakers. We recently organized an eight day road trip across the island in order to promote Crete as a four seasons destination. We invited international travel insiders, movers and shakers to create a think tank on how this could be achieved.

This was by far one of the most inspiring Travel Massive events to date, read more about it here: The Travel Massive Crete Road Trip

Have you acquired any partnerships or professional opportunities from being part of the community?

Through a Travel Massive event in Sydney I came in contact with Urban Adventures. That was the beginning of a successful partnership (and that’s just to mention one opportunity).

Do you have a past event that was your favourite?

I really enjoyed the Sydney Christmas party on a yacht sailing around Sydney harbour.

What is your best advice to a newcomer who wants to attend a Travel Massive event for the first time?

Grasp the opportunity to attend. Carry many business cards , be social , ask questions, introduce yourself and your work.
