Travel Massive Cologne and Düsseldorf Gets Creative!
Since our first event of the year was a massive success, we decided to re-create the event for our next Travel Massive Cologne and Düsseldorf meet-up. We hosted our evening event at the same location, Hacienda Real, a Latin American restaurant situated along the beautiful Rhein Promenade and ran the same structure as we had before.

But, what happened?
While we had some great numbers in attendance on the Travel Massive event page, it just so happened that we were hit with a torential downpour on the same day that Cologne and Düsseldorf trains went on strike. This meant that our attendance numbers had dropped from 30 to 12 in a little less than an hour.
So what did we do?
We’re still a relatively new chapter and our members are all filled with incredible ideas, so we decided to get this intimate group together for some ice breakers and brainstorming. Thanks to the owners of Hacienda Real, we were able to start the evening off with a complimentary beer!

Ice Breaker
Our first event of the year was so successful that we didn’t have much opportunity to all keep quiet and go around the room engaging in ice breakers. This time, since we had a smaller group, it made it a lot easier to get to know one another through some awesome ice breakers.
While we had everyone introduce who they were, what they do and what they hope to get out of Travel Massive, we also had them tell us what their most embarassing travel stories were. While I’d love to share them here with you, some of them are better kept within the small group of us. They’re too funny to share with the world!
Since we enjoyed the ice breaker so much, we’d love some more tips on what other chapters across the world do! Care to share? Send us an email.

Brainstorming
Our brainstorming session was all about what our members hope to get out of these events and then turning those hopes into a reality.
We had a couple suggestions around the room which included:
- Boat tours along the Rhine River
- Alt Bier Safari in the Düsseldorf Old Town
- Speed-Networking opportunities
- Specialized topics in tourism
Wondering what we’ve decided to do next? You’ll just have to wait and see!

Getting to know each other
Playing musical chairs so we could chat with everyone in the room!
