Travel Massive Copenhagen Has Officially Launched!

Friday, June 17th marked the very first Travel Massive event in Copenhagen, offering almost 30 travel professionals an afternoon of casual networking.

They also came together to learn about how the travel industry can work with travel bloggers, and how travel bloggers can monetize their blog at SP34.

Ture and Nikoline had recently formed the Travel Massive Chapter in Copenhagen and wished to start out strong hosting their first event right before the summer season kicked off.

Prior to the beginning of the event, the Travel Massive community was invited to a ‘tour of house’ through the venue to become inspired by the hotel’s story and design. SP34, which is owned by hotel group Brøchner Hotels, was listed as one of the ‘Best New Hotels’ in 2015 by Condé Nast Travelers Hot List. The hotel has been praised not only by its excellent location in Copenhagen’s bohemian and hip Latin Quarter, but also by its simple and elegant Scandinavian design.

The hotel in an international blogger and media magnet. SP34’s beautiful and intimate rooftop terrace was also the perfect venue to kick-off the Copenhagen Chapter.

The afternoon officially started with sparkling welcome drinks and a short introduction about the new launch of Travel Massive, followed by two inspiring presentations:

Kenneth Nielsen, the marketing expert from Travelmarket.com held the first speech on why companies should work with travel bloggers. Travelmarket also happened to be the sponsor for the afternoon’s gathering. Travelmarket is an international travel search site focusing on the Nordic markets. Their mission is to help their users find, compare and buy the best and cheapest flights, travel deals and hotels in the market. Travelmarket offers advanced travel search engines as well as an e-book and a travel blog containing useful travel tips and advice. Read more on www.travelmarket.dk.

During the event, Cocks and Cows dished up some delicious sliders to go along with wine and beer.

Afterwards, Alex Berger from Virtalwayfarer.com revealed some useful tips on how to navigate the mine field, that is blog monetization, and reflected on how we, as travel bloggers, can still earn income, while not selling ‘our soul’ to the industry and risking loosing our most valuable good: trustworthiness.

Both presentations were live streamed in the Facebook group “Danish Travelbloggers”, which resulted in extra 125 views. The crowd eagerly participated in a discussion after each presentation, and we were happy to see that many people stayed after the presentations and continued networking over a glass of wine on the cozy terrace.

Many thanks to Travelmarket for sponsoring the event, and to Cocks & Cows for filling our stomachs with delicious sliders. Thanks to everyone who showed up; I lost count of the many great conversations I had, and the positive feedback I received, this really underpins the need for this kind of platform in a vibrant and travel-interested city like Copenhagen.
