Exploring Berlin’s food scene with Fork&Walk
Travel Massive events in Berlin are far from boring! In the beginning of August Travel Massive Berlin invited its members for a food tour run by a new tour company Fork & Walk Tours.
Recently launched Fork & Walk Tours teamed up with Travel Massive to spread the word about their new business and let our members explore the local food scene. Two groups hit two different neighbourhoods to taste all the range of flavours and learn less known facts about Berlin from a foodie angle.
After the tours everyone met at a local bar to enjoy some desserts, a small giveaway and share delicious experiences.
We asked Dov Selby, the Founder of Fork & Walk Tours, a few questions to learn more about his business.
What is unique about Fork&Walk Tours?
Dov: We focus on showing people the real Berlin and giving people the feeling they are a local for the day. To do this, our tours are based in the local districts of Berlin and we only eat authentic Berlin cuisine. Berlin for us is not German food – we leave this up to Munich and Frankfurt to provide. Berlin is a whole different ball game…and it is seriously tasty!
Our tours are both a sightseeing and food tour (although we now also offer evening food tours), as we figure you need to have excellent food while learning the rich history of Berlin. But most importantly, we believe that learning about the regional cuisine and its origins are key to understanding the history and development of a city.
What are the key success factors of a great food and sightseeing tour?
Dov: I guess it is not so much that we aim for success, we aim to provide people with a unique tour experience. We are proud of Berlin’s food culture and love living in this vibrant city. Walking around the streets in-between neoclassical buildings, peaking behind old large doors opening to unexpected courtyards and where every step is covered in history – we want to share our amazing Berlin with you!
What advice can you give to people, who would like to start a local tour company?
Dov: I think if it is for anyone who has a passion for starting their own business – just go for it. Life is too short to waste time.
Why is it worth to be part of Travel Massive? What benefits did it bring to you and your business?
Dov: Travel Massive of course have a great network of people. But it is really the quality of people we have met in Berlin through Travel Massive. They are lovely people and are more than just business connection. We love real people and the Travel Massive community are exactly this. So yes, we are proud to promote Travel Massive and be a important part of the community.
