10 Cool Travel Massive Event Ideas to Inspire You

Travel Massive is more than just stopping by and creating a network. It is about creating change in travel and making new friends who you can experience the world with.

While we certainly host enough networking events to keep you busy for the year, there are plenty of other cool Travel Massive event ideas to inspire you and your chapter.

Breakfast Party

It’s quite common for a Travel Massive chapter to host an event on a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. It ensures that people aren’t away for the weekend and that they’ve had Monday and Tuesday to get the urgent work completed so they can spend the latter part of the week enjoying their evenings.

However, have you ever thought about a breakfast party? Many Travel Massive members might actually enjoy the fact that they can take a few hours out of their work day to network and eat some breakfast. After all, a Travel Massive event is a great opportunity to expand your business opportunities.

City Tour

You may think you’ve seen it all, but perhaps joining a local city tour might help open people’s eyes to how wonderful their city is. It’s not often that we look at our own cities from a traveler’s perspective. Is it worth giving it a shot?

Barbeque

Köln Travel Massive hosted a barbeque in partnership with itravel, the event was a huge success and the food was delicious. Even if you don’t have sponsors for a barbeque, charge everyone a few dollars/euros/etc. for a burger and a drink, sit back and mingle. If you don’t want to charge members, perhaps creating a pot luck might be an alternative idea?

Scavenger Hunt

Why not? Scavenger hunts build even the newest of friendships! Partnering with a local tourism board to explore the city or even putting a unique sustainable spin on the event like collecting garbage, serve as some great ideas and inspiration.

Road Trip

Take a few pointers from our most recent road trips:

South Africa and Crete, Greece had wonderful opportunities to explore the area in partnership with local accommodations, restaurants and tour operators.

Brewery Sampling

While we aren’t condoning excessive drinking, a couple beers is always sure to ease the silence in a room.

Take a look at Düsseldorf’s and Ann Arbor’s beer excursions throughout the city, by foot and by bike.

Hiking

We’re not big into suits and business rooms – try throwing on an old pair of hiking boots and having a little fun in the outdoors with your chapter. Newcastle and Sicily know how it’s done.

Dance Class

If you’re not joining in on a brewery tour, there’s other alternatives to loosen a crowd up. Get out of your comfort zone and suggest your chapter learn a dance or two. Perhaps the tango? Or the salsa?

Explore Another City at Home

Travel Massive was Texas-Inspired in Toronto as they worked with the Texas tourism board to show Torontonians all about what life is life in Texas and why it’s worth a visit. They ate texas inspired food, listened to Texas music and chatted all about Texas.

Have a Skype Call

We might be all over the world, but that didn’t stop Europe and Africa Travel Massive Chapters uniting via Skype. Host a small event at the same time as another chapter you’re interested in learning about and share a few tips about your home town.
