Escape the Daily Grind and Find Inspiration with YonderWork

Nick Messina, co-founder or YonderWork, helps remote workers make lasting connections, improve their professional skills, and explore the world.

YonderWork is an international community experience for remote workers who are dreamers and doers, rising leaders, and people working on interesting things.

Sounds like you? We asked Nick a few questions about what it’s all about, so enjoy the read!

What inspired you to create this startup?

YonderWork developed out of a love for travel and a need to escape the cube to find inspiration and balance by working remotely. We saw the converging trends of digital nomadism, the sharing economy, and the gig economy, as well as the increased interest in experiences over materialism. YonderWork is about changing the way we work, living the life you deserve and making travel a more integrated part of your lifestyle.

How did you build YonderWork?

My co-founder Kristin and I did a lot of research on the trends of remote working, coworking, and digital nomad hotspots. We then began networking with like-minded people who believe remote working is the future of work. We then traveled to each of our country locations, scouted our coworking and lodging spaces, and partnered with professional development providers. We are now in the very exciting stage of bringing together our community for our Buenos Aires experience.

What makes your startup different from other similar startups out there?

Our startup is heralding the future of work. No longer 9 to 5 and traditional office culture, we seek to combine living and working, how you want and where you want. We are different from other remote work and travel startups through our professional development offerings, focus on slow travel, and thorough vetting of all of our locations.

How did you get your startup off the ground and gaining traction?

Through educational events and teaching people about the location independent lifestyle. Many people don’t realize that they have options when it comes to where and how they work.

Do you have any tips for new entrepreneurs who want to create a successful startup?

You have to truly love what you do. Entrepreneurship isn’t quick or easy, so you have to be passionate about what you are doing to keep going and really develop a successful business.

As a startup, what benefits have you seen from being a part of Travel Massive meetups?

I attended my first Travel Massive event in Chiang Mai, Thailand in February and was just amazed at the diversity of attendees and their commitment to sustainable travel. I made some great connections and friends. It is nice to have people in the industry who can share ideas around sustainable travel, supporting communities, and authentic experiences.
