Learn How Travelpayouts Manages Travel Traffic Monetization

We’ve been spreading the word about Travelpayouts, and now it’s time to meet the Vice President, Ivan Baidin as he shares his tips to success (and life on Phuket Island).

Cool, right? But how did it all happen? Where did the inspiration spark? This is what we asked Ivan to answer in our interview series.

Where are your offices? Can your platform be used globally?

Travelpayouts is located on Phuket Island (don’t be jealous). However, our services are global. We get a lot of our traffic from the Russian, English, Spanish, German and French markets. It is an international platform with tickets, hotels, rent-a-car, guided tours and travel insurances all under one roof.

Who is your target market? Who will benefit the most when using your platform?

We enjoy targeting travel bloggers and content creators, airport websites and even traffic arbitrations. The top-10 companies and affiliates from our payout list contains quite a wide range variety of partners. The sky’s the limit.

What inspired you to create Travelpayouts?

Do not laugh, but the world of adults encouraged us to create Travelpayouts.

Many global industries are based on an affiliate scheme, and it works absolutely the same way in the travel industry. So we create a place where you could book your entire trip from A to Z online while offering affiliates the opportunity to make an extra income.

We have about 90,000 partners from all over the world and it is a huge chain of web and mobile professionals who are eager enough to catch the nomads.

What makes your brand awesome or different from other similar ones?

The best thing about Travelpayouts is our ‘all-in-one’ concept. You can book accommodations, excursions, travel insurances or whatever you want related to your trip in a moments time. You are able to use one interface for everything. We supply a wide range of tools like white labels, widgets, banners, links, etc., plus regular payouts via bank transfer or PayPal.

Convinced? By the way, the highest payout in 2016 was about $133,000 USD. Quite inspiring, yeah?

We think more travel brands should tap into the online media industry. How do you work with bloggers, vloggers, or the travel industry to amplify your brand?

We’re always open to working with industry professionals!

One of our most recent partnerships with affiliate Elona Karafin. Elona is a cancer survivor and now travels the world on weekends for under $1,000/trip. In order to prove to you that you don’t need much time or money to travel, we’ve worked together to share Elona’s story. She’s a brave heart and a successful partner. This what storytelling is.

We believe that story is a king and we’re looking for them all the time.

Is your brand doing something cool and innovative this year?

Sure! Our new ‘empty legs’ feature offers private chartered jets at a fraction of the price. When an existing passenger flies one way, the jet still needs to fly back, so instead of flying back empty, we sell the empty leg of the journey.

Our luggage feature is also pretty neat! According to our survey, 30% of passengers pay for additional luggage fees due to a lack of information. We fixed it. Now baggage allowances are available in the search results on Travelpayouts’ white labels.

Where do you see the travel industry in 2-5 years?

I see the travel industry deeply in mobile and maybe even beyond. 60% of our bookings come from smartphones and touchpads. We have features on our platform such a voice search or identification recognition, so you don’t need to type your passport details.

Of course, all of these are mostly for early adopters and so-called digital junkies, but it’s only just the beginning.

As a brand, why do you attend Travel Massive events?

It’s a rare opportunity to speak the same language. I not talking about Russian or English. On the one hand, it’s the language of freedom and new ideas, on the other, it’s about efficiency.
