Recognizing Purposeful Travelers of 2016

It’s time to give a big shoutout to some of the top purposeful travelers in the Travel Massive community who help create a positive change in travel in 2016.

Here at Travel Massive we love talking travel tech and startups, but what about those in the community who are constantly on the go, writing about their experiences and finding responsible tourism opportunities around every corner? It’s time to showcase just a few of the top purposeful travelers who are a part of the Travel Massive community.

Steven Hille, founder and blogger of the German website Funkloch

Green Global Travel

Brett and Mary are the founders of Green Global Travel, an ecotourism, nature/wildlife conservation and cultural preservation website. They’ve been awarded the title of Best Specialist Travel Blog and been featured by news outlets like The Guardian, Huffington Post, and BBC News.  They are proud members of The International Ecotourism Society and co-founders of Atlanta Travel Massive.

Breathedreamgo

Mariellen Ward is a professional travel writer, social media, and content/influencer marketing consultant. She is also the publisher of the award-winning travel blog Breathedreamgo.com and co-founder of Toronto Travel Massive and Delhi Travel Massive. Mariellen’s blog has also been titled one of the best conscious travel blogs in 2016. 

The Crowded Planet

Margherita and Nick are the founders of The Crowded Planet and are well known for being able to find nature in everything. Most of their blog includes writeups about their natural experiences around the globe. Margherita and Nick are constantly on the go and pop in to say hello at Travel Massive events around the world.

The Pin the Map Project

Nikki Vargas was born in Colombia, raised in Chicago and now calls New York City home (she is also quite an active member of Travel Massive NYC). Nikki started her own travel blog, The Pin the Map Project, which was part of the Mode Media Network. Her stories have appeared on FOOD & WINE, The Huffington Post, VICE, Roads & Kingdoms and more. Nikki is an advocate for sustainable travel and recently attended the Global Summit on Sustainable Travel at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

Funkloch

Steven Hille is the founder and blogger of the German website Funkloch, he is also an active member of our Travel Massive Berlin chapter. While many bloggers enjoy writing about sustainable travel, Steven takes action while he’s off exploring the world. This year Steven helped build a water pump in Uganda and raised over 7,500 Euro in the efforts. We were so impressed, we also interviewed him for a Travel Massive feature.

The Planet D

Dave and Deb are Canadian adventurers, speakers, top travel influencers and two-time SATW winners for the Best Travel Blog and Photography. They’ve been together for over 9 years inspiring adventure in everyone. They write featured posts like Costa Rica Green Travel Adventure to show everyone how realistic it is to follow your dreams (and travel sustainably too).
