Feel Like a Local in Prague on Guidilo Tours

Tereza Vítková, co-founder of Guidilo, helps travelers from all around the world to get to know Prague and feel like locals during their visit.

As a part of the Travel Massive Prague chapter, Tereza has had the opportunity to meet many tourism professionals in the community and build Guidilo into a powerful startup while supporting local freelancers.

We asked Tereza a few questions to give you some insight into how she made it all possible.

How did you build Guidilo?

Well, the original idea of Guidilo was born by two people (Eva Belokostolská and myself). We both had always traveled to and lived in many cities in Europe while making friends all around the world. Increasing numbers of questions from our friends about how to get to Prague, what to do in Prague, when to visit and where to visit. This gave us the impulse to build this site in order to also allow other people discover the real local life in Prague.

What makes your startup different from other similar startups out there?

At Guidilo.com, we offer you a friendly local guide who will be able to provide insider tips and recommendations for authentic, off the beaten path sites. We carefully select our guides, pay attention to the customer service and try to give our customers the moon. If there’s anything special/unusual/extraordinary that a traveler wants to experience in Prague, the only thing he needs to do is contact us and we will make it happen. From marriage proposals to team buildings, we are able to make it real!

How is Guidilo changing the future of the industry or helping to make travel better?

My personal aim which I believe will help to change the future of the industry especially in this part of the world is to break down the myths about unfriendly Czech people, who wear socks in sandals, speak very bad English (or no English at all) and try to pluck you any time (let us face it – every guidebook talks about it). I strongly believe that our local guides help to create lifelong memories in Prague!

Do you have any tips for new entrepreneurs who want to create a successful startup?

Nothing is ever going to be as perfect as you want it to be, so just START and make your dreams real! Oh yeah, and make sure to join Travel Massive chapters in your neighborhood!

As a startup, what benefits have you seen from being a part of Travel Massive meetups?

Our Prague Travel Massive chapter is awesome (thanks to our chapter leader – Petr)! Most of the people I meet are very professional, kind and nice, and thanks to the meetups, I’ve developed more than just business connections. The first Travel Massive event I attended gave me the opportunity to interact with people from Czech Tourism directly (I was trying to reach them for a very long time before), and guess what – we arranged a cooperation. Thanks, Travel Massive!!
