Combine Your Favourite Travel Tips with Mark My World

Michael Rethy, Co-Founder and CEO of Mark My World, LLC., helps travellers to mark their favorite spots to create a detailed itinerary for their travels.

Mark My World is a new travel application for iPhone and iPad which allows users to store places of interest from any source they trust. They can use these digital notecards—“Marks”—to plan their travels in an itinerary, takes notes for private and shared use, remember experiences with timestamps, comments and photos, and automatically create travel journals based on their experiences. The Marks can be easily shared with others directly and through Facebook.  In addition, bloggers and web page publishers can post their Marks for their readers to access in print and map-based displays.

Michael is part of our Travel Massive Washinton D.C. chapter and has an interesting story to tell. This is why we asked him a few questions about how he built Mark My World and where he plans on taking it.

Who is your startup for?

Mark My World is an application perfect for avid travelers, people who like to explore places in depth and document their experiences, or anyone interested in cataloging their places of interest for use now or in the future.

What inspired you to create Mark My World?

We created Mark My World because there was no single travel application which allowed a comprehensive way to remember places we were recommended or read or heard about, and allow us to use that information to plan trips and remember our experiences at those places.

How did you build your startup?

We meticulously mapped out the features we thought were necessary for what we wanted our app to do and had it developed over the course of several years.  It was initially released in June of 2016.

What makes your startup different from other similar startups out there?

Unlike other travel apps on the market, Mark My World allows you to personally source your points of interest.  Other apps with crowd-shared data can be used to populate your Marks, but the idea is that as a user you are able to decide which sources you will use.  These can be travel review websites, magazines, travel guides, friends or any other source you choose.  The itinerary, experience, and journal features are intuitive and unique to our application.

Travel Massive is about empowering change in travel. How is your startup changing the future of the industry or helping to make travel better?

Mark My World allows travelers to have any points of interest they may have researched at their fingertips, in an easy to use, map-based application. It allows travelers to access these Marks while planning trips and while traveling, and to automatically creates Journals of their travels at the push of a button.
