Get to Know More About Travel Massive Ann Arbor

Josie Schneider, International House Sitter & Travel Massive Ann Arbor Chapter Leader, tells us all about Ann Arbor & why it’s the best spot for travel events. If you haven’t been to an Ann Arbor Travel Massive event yet, then you should probably get to know a little bit more about Josie before she dives in.

Josie is an International House Sitter which means she travels for months at a time (as she answers our questions from Madrid) and immerses into the cultures by staying in one place for weeks at a time. She runs a website called HouseSittingTravel.com which helps people succeed at this fun, low-cost way to experience the world. Herself and Conrad Knutsen are also Airbnb hosts in Ann Arbor.

How did you first get involved with Travel Massive?

As an international house sitter, I network with people all over the world. We share tips and inspiration as well as vital information to assist in smooth sailing. Another house sitting couple told me about Travel Massive. I liked it right away. I read dozens of travel sites and blogs and know immediately if it resonates with me. I relate to Travel Massive because the focus is on making connections – and not simply marketing stuff to make a buck. As I read deeper into the Travel Massive message I was hooked. It’s simple and elegant.

What makes your city a great place for Travel Massive meet-ups?

Ann Arbor is the best city in Michigan! (Detroit is quickly catching up I’m happy to announce, transforming into a world-class destination in its own right — again. We welcome the addition of this “new” city!) Ann Arbor will continue as the hotbed for activists and alternative thinking in all industries. Entrepreneurs bring their innovative companies here because they know they’ll be surrounded by like-minded valuable employees and brilliant thinkers.

The travel-related folks that belong and attend our Travel Massive events follow that lead. They bring outside-the-box thinking, some of which may even make you wonder what the heck they were thinking, but that’s what makes Ann Arbor tick.

We try everything. Our networking is rich and fun because of that.

What is your best advice to a newcomer who wants to attend a Travel Massive event for the first time?

Just bring it. Come have fun and learn from your fellow industry leaders. As the Ann Arbor Chapter leaders, Vinal and I want the meetings to have value, first and foremost, so come ready to share and learn. Simple as that. Connecting with other travel professionals through Travel Massive is a great opportunity. There is no other place in this industry where you can concentrate on the unique language and vibe of travel. Come enjoy!
