California Goes Bohemian in LA and SF

Both the Los Angeles and San Francisco Travel Massive chapters had the opportunity to spend an evening in the Czech Republic at events hosted by Jiri from CzechTourism this April. Both nights introduced the traditions of Czech cuisine, invention, and of course, beer and spirits to create a memorable atmosphere to inspire future travelers’ journeys to the Czech Republic.

Bringing California and the Czech Republic closer together.

In true Bohemian style, both events took place in gallery spaces in up-and-coming neighborhoods in two of the state’s largest cities. On April 25th, CzechTourism and Travel Massive hosted about 70 attendees at The Laundry in the San Francisco Mission district.

Two days later, approximately 50 travel insiders joined the event at Knupp Gallery in the Arts District of Los Angeles.

Amidst clinking glasses and cheers of “Na Zdraví” or “Cheers,” participants at both events had the opportunity to try a variety of authentic Czech beers from the globally-known Pilsner Urquell to the smaller labels of Lev, Czechvar, Primator, and more! Cocktails were also concocted with Rudolf Jelinek slivovice or plum brandy, and Becherovka from the spa town of Karlovy Vary.

At the Los Angeles event, guests had a full Czech dining experience with accompanied catering of both traditional Czech snacks of open-faced sandwiches, schnitzels, and potato salad, as well as some modern culinary fares.

Other than eating and drinking, the events also highlighted the innovation of Czech foot bikes. Event guests had the opportunity to zoom around the gallery spaces and naturally the fun created a lively atmosphere full of fun and laughter.

Although a country, an ocean, and half of a continent apart, these two events brought California and the Czech Republic much closer together. Connect with @CzechTourism or follow #VisitCZ to stay tuned for upcoming Czech events!
