Meet our Chapter Leader – Sam Adeleke

Sam Adeleke co-leads our Lagos chapter and is on a mission to create conversations that explore using global ideas to solve local problems.

Sam Adeleke co-leads our Lagos chapter and is a travel consultant, blogger, speaker and thought leader in the emerging field of travel branding. His appetite for adventure has driven him to the most daring heights and underbellies of Africa’s under-reported destinations.

How did you get connected with Travel Massive?

Three years ago, I was on an evening cruise with a couple of friends on the Lagos lagoon, enjoying the sea waves and admiring the city’s skyline. Suddenly, someone in the group yelled “Sam, do you want to be part of something massive?” I said, “Hell, yeah!” “Welcome to Travel Massive, buddy!”, he retorted. We busted into laughter… and the rest, as they say, is history.

What is special about your chapter and community?

The quality of thinking, beauty in diversity and the depth of network. The Lagos chapter is a vibrant community of young and not-so-young travel innovators, with a desire to scale and create world-class solutions. Each time we meet, we engage in stimulating discussions so as to leverage our individual exposure and experience. Glocalization is our watchword – deploying global ideas to solve local problems.

What do you want to achieve in your local chapter?

We aim to be the thought leaders and reference point for travel solutions in the region, using our frequent tweetchat and hangout events. We are also embarking on community development projects in the host communities of tourist destinations. These residents, who are custodians of tourist assets, deserve better. This is why giving back to places such as the Badagry Slave Town is dear to our heart.

Who are the heroes in your local community?

My co-chapter leaders are the heroes of our community. Oluwakemi Ojo, Innocent Uchenna and Azeez Alimi are doing amazing jobs in galvanizing and propelling community growth and innovation.
