Event Recap – Tech & Tourism in Myanmar
The Yangon Chapter hosted the Tech & Tourism in Myanmar networking event in Downtown Yangon.
The Yangon Travel Massive chapter hosted an event to discuss the changes that technology has had on the tourism industry in Myanmar, and what changes it will continue to have. Thanks to Bertie Lawson, the Yangon chapter leader for this event recap.
Technology is disrupting tourism. In Myanmar, the heady mixture of a fledgling tourism industry, burgeoning startup scene, and expanding middle class keen to explore their own country has created an exciting tech-tourism landscape.
Thanks to Nyunt Win Aung from GoP Tour Platform and Aung Phyo Lwin from EZStay who spoke about how Myanmar people use technology to plan, carry out, and document their trips, and how this is likely to evolve in the future. Both have different ideas about the future of Myanmar Tourism, but both believed technology to be at the heart of that future.
In Myanmar, the heady mixture of a fledgling tourism industry, burgeoning startup scene, and expanding middle class keen to explore their own country has created an exciting tech-tourism landscape.
In the crowd was a lively mix of professionals from both the tourism and hospitality sector and those from Yangon’s budding tech scene. Added to the mix were ambitious job seekers and eager networkers, keen to rub shoulders with the brightest and best of the Myanmar Start-up Set.
