Event Recap – A night in Nashville with Island Hopper Songwriter Fest

Not even a week after their launch event, the Travel Massive community in Nashville got together on July 24th for a fun & musical night out at the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest.

Here is the event recap by the Nashville Chapter Lead Lisbeth Norton. Lis is a freelance writer and documentary photographer. She provides literal and visual narrative that captivates viewers while tugging on their heart strings, one frame at a time.

For this event, the Nashville travel community teamed up with Island Hopper Songwriter Fest and NJF Public Relations,  in partnership with Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) and iHeartRadio.

The fest draws country-music fans from around the country for 10 days with over 150 live performances.

The Music City was treated to a taste of the island life and there was no better venue than BMI – the largest music rights organizations in the U.S., collecting licensing fees on behalf of songwriters, composers, and music publishers and distributing the royalties.

Upon arrival, Travel Massive members were greeted with tunes and warm, friendly smiles. Tamara Pigott, Executive Director of The Beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel, and BMI Vice President – Dan Spears, kicked off the event by saying a few words about Nashville’s importance in regards to the festival.

Attendees then jammed out to singer/songwriters Wynn Varble and Phil O’Donnell as they performed a few songs from their many hits over the years.

Event goers munched on food inspired by the destination, such as fish tacos and fresh shrimp. The open bar refreshments were provided by local Fort Myers Brewing Company and Wicked Dolphin Rum, who’s rum punch was all the rage!

A few members that attended include the Lonely Planet’s destination editors Trisha Ping and Alicia Johnson, Matthew Maxey – PR of Visit Franklin, Margaret Littman – a freelance journalist, bloggers Kaylene Isherwood, Lee Huffman and Tomeka Allgood, and many more.
