Event Recap – The September Lagos Hangout

Travel Massive Lagos held its latest hangout in the end September to network and discuss the global trends and outlook for the travel industry.

This event recap was written by Sam Adeleke – one of the chapter co-leaders of Travel Massive Lagos. Sam is a brand management, public relations and corporate communications professional. He is also a travel and tourism consultant, speaker and blogger.

The September event was held in Texas Connection, Osborne Foreshore Phase 2, Ikoyi in Lagos. It was a team collaboration thanks to the chapter leaders Sam Adeleke, Oluwakemi Ojo, Azeez Alimi and Innocent Uchenna.

The event’s top highlights

The highlights of this event were the exciting ice-breaker and networking bonding sessions moderated by one of our members, Demola Aderibigbe, a.k.a Coach Lalaa, a Fun Learning Specialist and Gamification Trainer.

Another unique aspect were the product launch sessions by the two companies represented by Oluwakemi Ojo of Travelanders and Chima Ezeokoye of WeMove Technologies.

Winners of the online game competition were also presented their gifts. There was a quiz during the event which also gave the opportunity to some participants to win various prizes.

We also had a very interesting Panel Session which featured seasoned experts in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. The panel discussed 2018/2019 trends and outlook for the travel industry and what we need to start looking out for and paying attention to.

The panel was moderated by Chapter Leader Sam Adeleke featured Mr. Gbenga Onitilo, Air Namibia Sales Manager for Nigeria; Deji Ajomale a Golf and Sports Tourism Promoter; Excel Opuaru, hotel management consultant; Oluwakemi Ojo of Travelanders; and Celestine Ezeokoye of WeMove.

Some of the other Lagos chapter members who attended were Victoria Onyemuwa of Akenn Travels and Tours, Geraldine Itoe of NovaRosta Travels, content creator Bukayo Ewuoso, travel bloggers Ayodeji Adefila and Diusor Odiakosa, and others.

Who were the event sponsors

We had two sponsors for our event in September: Travelanders and WeMove.

Travelanders is a travel media platform where travellers can stay informed on amazing things to do in various destinations across the world. At the event, Travelanders launched a new ‘deals’ feature that will bring the travel and tourism stakeholders a more powerful way to connect with their consumers, giving them a viable marketing platform to reach their target consumer, and easily help them plan and prepare for their next holiday at affordable rates.

Our second partner, WeMove Technologies Ltd, is a transport technology development company with a focus on product design to ease transportation and businesses involving transportation in Africa. Wemove launched its “Planner” tool, an online resource for travel agents and tour operators looking to plan trips more efficiently and effectively. It helps users to find and hire any vehicle type they require in Nigeria from vehicle owners who use an automated bidding and bargaining engine to service each customer booking.
