High level officials from EU institutions, national authorities and decision makers from across the aviation value chain will attend the event – a great and rare chance to meet and network with these top executives.

The symposium is designed not only to address the most critical issues for European Aviation, but also, and more importantly, to provide a platform for an intense exchange of ideas, concepts and visions for the industry in dedicated round tables and work groups.

What topics will be discussed?

Aviation is at a crossroads.

Traditional airline business models are giving way to a new lower cost, customized and more profitable “airline 2.0” generation with higher pricing power.

Traditional airport business models of pure infrastructure providers have been replaced by more entrepreneurial growth oriented companies seeking to promote connectivity and profitability. At the same time disruptive technologies and new market initiatives increase pressure on airlines, airports and aviation partners to reconsider their strategies and business approach.

Day 1

On the first day, the symposium will address the strategic challenges facing aviation.

The following topics (and more) will be discussed:

  • The consequences of Brexit
  • The effects of consolidation
  • The political answer to the possible further market fragmentation

The event is aimed to highlight the dependency of national markets and their market players in Europe on a robust and realistic European aviation policy.

In the afternoon, participants can choose between two streams and three round tables for a deeper look into the most pressing issues and questions.

Day 2

On day two, the symposium will focus on the operational answers of the market players and discuss the capacity trap, emerging competition for the tourism market as well as specific issues of regional markets such as the Mediterranean.

The symposium will also address changes in technology, challenges posed by cyber security and new distribution channels. Some of the central issues to be debated include:

  • How have NDC/One Order changed the markets so far?
  • Are Amazon and Google role models, partners or competitors?
  • Which has the stronger effects – labour shortage or digitalization?
