Lisbon kicks off 2019 at travel-inspired venue

Travel Massive Lisbon kicked off the new year with a gathering at an India-inspired outdoor venue to share news and plans for 2019.

This event recap was written by Sandra Henriques – Lisbon chapter leader, travel blogger and freelance writer. She runs Tripper, a travel blog on sustainability and culture, where she frequently writes about her two “homes” and top travel destinations, Lisbon and the Azores Islands.

We met up at restaurant “Lost In“, a beautiful place inspired by India that made us feel like we had traveled there without ever leaving Lisbon. The weather was on our side, so we got to hang out on the terrace with a stunning view of Lisbon (that looks especially gorgeous at sunset).

As usual, the three hours flew by – we shared plans for Travel Massive Lisbon and our personal projects, exchanged business cards, but above all, we felt thrilled to be part of a community of like-minded people. A community that’s growing stronger than ever. We’re all “Lisboetas,” no matter where in the world we were born!

Here’s an overview of what the Lisbon chapter members that attended the event are up to in 2019:

  • Daryl and Mindi Hirsch, the two bloggers behind 2FoodTrippers (aka that blog you shouldn’t read when hungry) are in love with Lisbon and are exploring the city, you guessed it, one dish at a time. Keep an eye out for their upcoming blog posts
  • Wendy Werneth, aka the Nomadic Vegan, will be busy guiding vegan tours to Italy, India, and of course sunny Lisbon
  • Henrique Saraiva will continue to follow every curve in the road on his motorcycle traveling blog
  • Welsh-turned-Portuguese couple Dewi and Clare Jones are getting closer and closer to officially opening their luxury self-catering accommodation near Marvão in Alentejo

The date for the second event of 2019 will be announced soon and we hope you join us for the next! If you have a favorite spot for our next meet-ups let me know. We’re always excited to get to know new places.

Thanks, Sandra, for this cheerful update!
