Meet Chris Torres – Digital Marketing Guru (and Glasgow Chapter Leader)

Meet Chris Torres, digital marketing super-hero and co-leader behind Glasgow Travel Massive‘s recent growth.

Besides leading the Travel Massive community in Glasgow together with Jessica Gregory, Chris is the Director & Tourism Marketing Expert at Tourism Marketing Agency, speaker and Scottish SME Business Man of the Year 2018.

How did you get connected with Travel Massive?

Travel Massive was recommended to me by a friend and shortly after I signed up, I became chapter leader in Glasgow, Scotland.

I provide a lot of free advice and content on my Digital Tourism Show platform. I wanted to bring that format to the Travel Massive community so I can provide more than a simple networking gathering.

As I have been in the industry for 26 years, I am utilising my contacts to bring in highly influential expert speakers to each event, which is filmed for the Digital Tourism Show.

What do you want to achieve in your local chapter?

The Glasgow chapter was pretty non-existent when I took over. My aim is to grow the chapter considerably as Glasgow needs something like this. I eventually wish to run a bigger, conference type event once we are more established, which will cover Scotland and bring in other chapters to contribute.

Our current focus is to foster stronger partnerships between the local tourism industry and our outstanding tech community to improve use of digital technologies in tourism.

Our regular events are open to anyone involved in, and passionate about travel and tourism including individuals, businesses, entrepreneurs, bloggers, vloggers, photographers, media, travel brands, industry enthusiasts, tour operators, hospitality professionals and PRs.

Who are the heroes in your local community?

One that comes to mind would be Neil Lapping of Macs Adventure. I have known Neil for many years when his business started with a handful of staff and guides. He has grown his business into one of the biggest adventure walking companies in Europe with over 70 people staff. His journey and how he has grown his business is inspiring.

What are you excited about next?

I am excited to see where we can take the Glasgow chapter. So far, the attendees have praised our speakers and the format and we wish to continue this trend.

I am equally excited about the speakers we have lined up for the coming months. You would pay hundreds of pounds to see some of the speakers at other events, and we do it for free.
