Event Recap – Wowanders launches in Germany

Travel Massive Berlin had the chance to meet the founders of the Wowanders travel diary app to learn more about how to use the app to keep track of places you visit and how to share your travels with friends and followers.

Berlin Travel Massive together with Wowanders’ founders Taru Aalto, Maija Kaukonen and their Marketing Advisor Veera Papinoja hosted a Blogger Reception at Lulu Guldsmeden hotel on January 30.

Content creators were invited to learn more about the app and network with follow travel bloggers in an intimate setting. After being focused on the Nordics for the last six months, the startup is now expanding to the German market and used the event to initiate new connections and partnerships.

Wowanders is a new kind of a smart travel diary app, which makes sure you never forget the hotels, restaurants or sights you’ve visited while also making it easy to share your best tips with your friends or readers – even if they don’t have the app.

The app’s founders, Taru and Maija, shared their journey so far with the group and answered many questions about the inner workings of their app as well as their goals for 2019 and beyond.

Here are some of the interesting things we learned:

• Taru and Maija wanted to use their tech background and passion for travel to solve trip planning and journaling challenges.
• While the focus is on B2C, Wowanders also works with brands (such as hotels) and content creators to curate travel lists and itineraries in different destinations.
• The top three features the Wowanders team is most excited about launching this year are wish lists, joint diaries and the ability to merge past trips to the same destination into one diary entry.
