We’re launching Hotel Massive

Can you imagine a hotel that you never have to check out of?

Today we’re announcing the launch of our new project — Hotel Massive — that will revolutionize the way travelers work and live together.

Back in March, our build team flew by private jet with Silicon Valley investors to South East Asia to shortlist potential build sites. Here’s how it happened.

Like all the best travel startup ideas, this starts with a personal travel experience.

The concept came from the constant annoyance of early-morning, bleary-eyed check outs from hotels after attending conferences such as ITB Berlin and SXSW.

So we thought “what if we can develop a hotel that you never need to check out from?”.

We got out our whiteboard and Business Canvas Map and started working through the process, and were startled by the self-affirming results.

We then asked some really hard questions to validate the idea.

What if the hotel was in the middle of nowhere? What if it was made of 100% recycled material flown in from Nepal? What if your friends checked you in on Facebook, instead of at reception? What if you could wake up every day in the forest and if a tree fell you could live stream the moment over high-speed WiFi to all your followers?

To prevent overtourism, our hotel will be developed in a remote location only accessible by hiking or yacht.

Clearly there were answers to our questions, which meant that our idea was viable.

By 2050, almost half the world’s population will be Instagrammers or digital nomads. The world needs to rethink the future of co-living for these new careers.

From whitepaper to Gibraltan bank account

After a hard weekend of planning, the team worked for about 3 hours writing a compelling, diagram-filled whitepaper justifying our need for someone else’s money.

We shared our whitepaper with some investors, along with a 3 page pitch deck and BOOM! we had Sand Hill Road VCs lined up to talk.

We met with many investors at our secret booth at Berlin Travel Festival, and within a few weeks, we’d raised over $100M for our hotel venture, dubbed Hotel Massive.

We also decided to make our business plan freely available, so that other hotel developers in the Travel Massive community can use our visionary ideas.

The Hotel Massive Vision

We’re developing the hotel of the future. Our open-source hotel will revolutionize co-living design and architect new ways of co-working for billions of digital nomads.

Here’s 12 future-thinking innovations that we’re planning for Hotel Massive.

1. To prevent overtourism, our hotel will be developed in a remote location only accessible by hiking across vast mountain ranges, or arriving on a luxury yacht.

2. Visitors will also be able to land from space on our rocketpad via vertical landing vehicles such as SpaceX, allowing guests to arrive from anywhere in the world within minutes.

3. Global WiFi will be powered by low Earth orbit satellites from OneWeb to ensure influencers can Instagram Live every sunset in 4k, flawlessly.

4. Hotel Massive will embrace the sharing economy and allow guests to share cocktails, phone numbers and if they both hit it off, their own beds.

5. A VC-funded ‘Wheel of Fortune’ will allow guests to choose from an infinite selection of AI-curated local experiences, such as ‘Micro Brewery Hot Yoga’ and ‘Painting Lessons with Squirrels’.

6. Guests will be able to book directly from Instagram posts, allowing influencers to finally prove to everyone that their audiences book from carefully staged photos.

7. Cloud technology will power unlimited fresh, hydrating mountain water to guests thanks to atmospheric pressure and gravity (excludes El Nino periods).

8. High fidelity AI-powered ASMR ‘deep sleep’ pods will allow you to recharge your mind and body to the soothing sounds of Eating Raw Honeycomb and Zen Garden.

High fidelity AI-powered ASMR ‘deep sleep’ pods will allow you to recharge in as little as 2 hours.

9. Autonomous vehicles will take guests around the hotel facilities, using advanced AI to predict where they want to go, which is always correct 108% of the time.

10. Reservations will be recorded with a hacker-proof, carbon-based technology called “pencil” that will store guest information in an immutable off-chain hotel booking ledger “book”.

11. Room 420 will actually be on the top floor, and feature a large outdoor patio, 24/7 room service, unlimited movies, and free on-demand life coaching.

12. A drone landing pad will allow guests to order Tex-Mex from UberEats drone delivery.

🙌 All Travel Massive members will get one free night (ex. UN responsible tourism tax).

Where shall we launch?

Due to the remote location of the hotel and the number of ground-breaking innovations we plan to develop in the sector, we expect Hotel Massive to officially open in 2035.

Potential Hotel Massive destinations include Scotland, Tasmania, Africa, Colombia, Montenegro and Vietnam.

We invite all members of the Travel Massive community to share their ideal location for Hotel Massive on our discussion forum. We’ll put the best ideas on our roadmap!
