Travel Massive Sofia Summer Meet-Up

Travel Massive Sofia met for a glass of wine and discussed the role of mobile apps and platforms in the tourism industry.

The event recap was written by Sabina Popova – chapter co-leader of Travel Massive Sofia. Sabina is a career center coordinator at SoftUni Bulgaria. Her passion for travel & tourism inspired her to join Travel Massive Sofia with the aim to connect the future of travel in the city.

At the summer meeting held on the 22nd of August at the KaRe-Atre Art Gallery in Sofia, we invited three proven professionals who have developed mobile applications related to the tourism industry in Bulgaria.

Our kind hosts provided a wonderful summer atmosphere in the art gallery and took care of our mood with a glass of fine white wine, a compliment from them to our participants and guests.

Mobile Apps & Platforms in Tourism

The three panelists who took part of the discussion were Elitsa Stoilova (Umni), Nikolay Kunev (Divine Bulgaria), Alexander Alexiev (URBO).

They shared their own experiences in developing and promoting a mobile app or platform among the users in Bulgaria. The speakers talked about the difficulties they encountered along the way to successfully launch their products, the travel sector of such applications and the individual needs of the travelers.

The general opinion and conclusion we reached is that with the rapid development of technology and the convenience that the applications can offer, travel agents and tour operators in particular can and should work together, evolve together and in parallel.

In order to do this, companies need to integrate new technologies, familiarize their customers with them, and think in the direction of digitalization and process automation in help of the tourist.
