2019 Bloggers On Top Unconference in Bulgaria: Highlights + Live Stream

For the third year in a row, Bloggers On Top unconference brought together 30 content creators and tourism professionals in Bansko, Bulgaria,  to learn more about the ins and outs of professional blogging.

This event recap was written by Maria Stoyanova – Content Editor at Travel Massive and Sofia chapter leader. Maria runs the travel blog Travelling Buzz, and is the co-founder of the Bulgarian Travel Bloggers Association

What is Bloggers On Top and who attended?

Bloggers on Top 2019 took place in Bansko – once a renowned winter sports resort, and now the up-and-coming international digital nomad hub in Bulgaria. The event was again organized and hosted by Coworking Bansko.

The concept behind the 3-day unconference is to gather in one place a small group of people to share their knowledge, ideas and feedback on everything related to blogging in the tourism industry.

This year, around 30 local and international travel insiders participated, including professionals from Australia, the US, The Netherlands, Latvia, and more.

Many active Travel Massive members joined the event, such as Edgar Pless, Martin Totev, Mark Philips, Peter Syme, and Ian Cumming, founder of Travel Massive, at Bloggers On Top this year.

What topics were discussed?

During the unconference sessions, we discussed many relevant topics including SEO for bloggers and businesses, how to monetize your blog, how to grow your affiliate marketing income, ways to promote travel destinations, and how to rock in social media. Everyone was encouraged to contribute with the knowledge they had.

Among the discussions that stood out were the “Tools and Resources for bloggers and businesses” led by Alex van den Elsen, founder of Marketing Menu (to be launched at end of the month); “Ins and Outs of Influencer Marketing” by Maria Nedelcheva, digital marketing specialist and blogger at Adventures of a Bulgarian Mermaid, and many more.

Participants also learned about the power of video, storytelling, photography, how to speak the language of WordPress, including some serious tech tricks by Ian.

We even brought Travel Massive LIVE to Bansko to record some of the sessions. Check out the live stream from the last day of Bloggers On Top, with the presentation of Maria Nedelcheva and some of the blogger’s pitches:

What others say about Bloggers On Top

Peter Syme, adventure travel specialist from Glasgow:

The Bloggers on Top Unconference hosted by Coworking Bansko was a fantastic weekend gathering of a wide range of travel industry bloggers and other travel sector professionals. The stunning backdrop of Bansko old town and mountain set the scene and you could feel the culture that Coworking Bansko have created for their community.

The weekend covered a range of topics that all travel bloggers have to excel in and everyone contributed in a positive manner. I would highly recommend attending a future Bloggers On Top Unconference.

Bistra Yakimova, Bulgarian blogger at The Magic of Traveling

Bloggers on Top unconference in Bansko was one of those events that managed to get together people from all over the world and facilitate sharing and mutual learning. We couldn’t be happier to share what we’ve learned and tried over time to grow our business and the same went for everyone else.

Along with all the topics we covered and the even more questions we managed to open, we had the chance to explore Bansko and have some post-unconference fun. Our weekend at Bloggers on Top was insightful, inspirational and definitely helped us stay on top of our blogging game. We can’t wait to meet more great people next year!”
